Deadline For Some SSI & VA Beneficiaries with Kids is May 5

SSI and VA Beneficiaries Have Until May 5 to File Taxes

ATTENTION: SSI and VA beneficiaries

You may be eligible to receive an additional $500 per dependent.

If you are a Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Veteran Affairs (VA) beneficiary with dependent children and you have NOT filed your taxes for 2018 or 2019, then you may need to read this. If those conditions apply to you, then you must register with the IRS by noon (12pm) Eastern time to receive an additional $500 for each dependent from the economic impact payment.

CRITERIA:

Register by May 5th if all of these apply to you:

  • You are an SSI or VA beneficiary
  • You have qualifying children under 17 years of age, AND
  • You did NOT file a tax return in 2018 or 2019

ACTION:

Fill out this non-filer form now to get the full amount from the economic impact stimulus checks.

If you do not register in time, then you will receive that money once you file your 2020 taxes. You will still receive your $1,200 payment, but not the additional money for your dependents.

If the three criteria listed above apply to you, BUT you are planning to file a 2019 tax return, do NOT use the tool above. According to IRS guidance, if you are required to file a 2019 tax return, registering above will not get your money processed faster. It may actually slow down the return process.
