About White Face Mountain
White Face Mountain ski area was started back in 1941 when the idea of bringing a ski area to the mountain was approved. However, due to World War II, they did not open until 1958. In 1980, Lake Placid was the site of the Winter Olympics and White Face hosted the downhill skiing events. From 1998-2008, there were many expansions and improvements, and they became a training venue for ski racing. In 2008, they added Lookout Mountain with new trails. They now have 87 runs.
