This list was compiled from the previous year. Some offers for Veterans Day have not been updated yet for 2023, or they do not plan to offer one. Please make sure to call ahead to ensure that they will have a discounted offer for Veterans’ Day this year.
National Parks
On Veterans Day, all visitors can visit National Parks for free as a way to remember veterans. There are more than 400 parks, some normally charge a fee, and others are free all of the time. This does not cover amenities or user fees such as for camping, or special tours.

Amusement Parks with Military Discounts, Veterans Day Discounts
Carowinds
NOTE: Carowinds does not appear to have a current special Veterans Day free admission offer! Please call ahead to make sure that they’re offering it again this year ahead of time.
Carowinds, a family amusement park in Charlotte, NC, has offered free admission to veterans with an honorable or medical discharge during their Military Appreciation Days, which typically are Saturdays and Sundays around Veterans Day. The discount applies to all service members, active, retired, national guard, and ROTC. You would need to show a valid military ID. Family members can use the Carowinds military discounts when you buy them in advance online. There is also a 2023 Military Gold Pass which gives you unlimited visits to Carowinds and Carolina Harbor.
Legoland Florida
Legoland Florida, in Winter Haven, Florida, outside of Orlando, offers a free 1 day ticket to Legoland Florida for the service member and 50% off 1 day tickets for up to six guests that visit with the service member. This offer is good until November 30th, 2023. They also have an everyday military discount on 1 and 2 day tickets, including the waterpark as well as 25% off hotel prices.
Knott’s Berry Farm
At Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park, CA, you can find Military Tribute Days at this family amusement park. From November 1-16, 2023, and November 27-December 14, 2023, Monday through Thursday, active duty, veterans, and retired military personnel and up to 5 guests can buy tickets for $19.99. You would need to show your military ID or DD214. Spouses and children are not eligible to purchase tickets without their service members. You can also find military discounts at your local MWR/ITT.
Six Flags Great Adventure
Six Flags Great Adventure Safari in Jackson, NJ, is a fun amusement park that has a Veterans Day Celebration every year. Last year, during the weekend of November 11-13, 2022, veterans and active duty military received free parking, admission, a meal, a drink bottle, and commemorative gifts. Family of veterans and active duty military received discounted park admission. Hopefully they will have something similar this year. Their website says they will be announcing soon.
Six Flags Discovery Kingdom
At Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo, CA, they are offering free admission to veterans and active duty November 10-12th. Friends and family can get park admission for $19.99, for up to four tickets. Proof of service is required. You can purchase friends and family tickets online with ID.me.
Six Flags St. Louis
NOTE: Six Flags St. Louis does not appear to have a current special Veterans Day free admission offer! Please call ahead to make sure that they’re offering it again this year ahead of time.
At Six Flags St. Louis, they have offered a Veterans Day weekend in the past. In 2018, they had Military Appreciation Days offering complimentary admission to the theme park with a valid US military ID for all active duty, national guard, reservists, and retired military members. You could also get a special military discount for family and friends for $37.99. Hopefully, they will have a similar deal in 2023.
Zoos with Military Discounts, Discounts for Veterans Day
Audubon Nature Institute
The Audubon Nature Institute is in New Orleans, LA. They offer a Veterans Day discount of a complimentary ticket for active duty, retired military, and veterans, 11/10-11/12/2023. Unfortunately, this offer is not available for family members and accompanying guests. It is good at the Audubon Zoo, Audubon Aquarium, and Audubon Insectarium.
Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium
Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium in Tacoma, WA, is offering all veterans and active duty military members free admission, as well as half-price tickets for their families on November 11, 2023, Veterans Day.
Zoo Atlanta
NOTE: They do not appear to have a current special Veterans Day free admission offer! Please call ahead to make sure that they’re offering it again this year ahead of time.
At Zoo Atlanta, in Atlanta, GA they are offering veterans and active duty, retired, and reserve members free admission every day.
Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden
Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden in Cincinnati, OH, offer free admission to all military members on Memorial Day, the 4th of July, and Veterans Day. This offer is for active duty, retired military, National Guard, veterans, and ROTC. You can also purchase up to six half-price admission tickets for your immediate family.
Naples Zoo at the Caribbean Gardens

At Naples Zoo at the Caribbean Gardens in Naples, FL, they have offered a Military Service Appreciation Week in the past, where members of the military, veterans, and their families receive free admission to the zoo. They also offer a $5 military discount the rest of the year. Please verify before visiting to see if they still offer the deal in 2023.
Sedgwick County Zoo
NOTE: They do not appear to have a current special Veterans Day free admission offer! Please call ahead to make sure that they’re offering it again this year ahead of time.
Sedgwick County Zoo, in Wichita, KS has offered free admission to active duty and veterans as well as their immediate families on Veterans Day, November 11 in the past. Families of deployed service members can also get in on the deal with a valid military ID.
San Antonio Zoo
The San Antonio Zoo in San Antonio, TX is offering active duty, retired, veterans, national guard, and reserves free admission. Up to 4 family members can receive 50% off standard admission at the ticket window. These discounts are valid during the month of November.
Zoo New England: Franklin Park Zoo and Stone Zoo
At Zoo New England, at both the Franklin Park Zoo location in Boston, MA, and Stone Zoo in Stoneham, MA, veterans can receive free admission on November 11th. You must show your military ID. The last admission is at 3:00 pm.
Nashville Zoo
At the Nashville Zoo in Nashville, TN, the Nashville Zoo and Regions Bank are putting on a Military Appreciation Day on Sunday, November 12, 2023. Active duty, veterans, and their immediate families will receive free admission. You would need to show your military ID or other proof of service. If your service member is deployed you can also take part in this deal with a valid ID.
Brevard Zoo
At Brevard Zoo, in Melbourne, FL they have offered current military and veterans a complimentary general admission to the zoo. If a service member is deployed overseas, the zoo will admit the spouse with no charge. Family members can receive $5 off the ticket price. Proof of service is required.
Aquariums
Newport Aquarium

At the Newport Aquarium in Newport, KY, they have offered a Military Appreciation week around Veterans Day. They offer free admission to active and retired military, disabled military, reservists, or anyone who has served in the military. You must show your military ID at the ticket window. Family members can receive a military discount of $3 off adult tickets and $2 off child tickets.
Aquarium of the Pacific
At the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, CA, they are offering free admission to active military, and veterans on Veterans Day, November 11, 2023. You will need to reserve tickets online. Friends and family can also buy tickets at your local MWR/ITT office or receive $3 off of adult admission, or $1.50 off of a child’s admission by showing a military ID at the window.
Mystic Aquarium
At the Mystic Aquarium in Mystic, CT, they offer military veterans and active duty military complimentary general admission throughout the year. Tickets need to be reserved in advanced. You would need to have a valid military ID or other proof of service. Family members also receive a discounted admission rate of $10 off general admission with a military ID. The dependent discount is valid for up to four guests.
Monterey Bay Aquarium
They may not have this offer available in 2023!
At the Monterey Bay Aquarium in Monterey, CA, they have had free admission over Veterans Day weekend if you are a veteran, active duty, reservist, or a retiree with a valid military ID. They also offer discount tickets to family members.
As you can see, there are quite a few amusement parks, zoos, and aquariums offering discounts to military and veterans and their families this Veterans Day. You should definitely take advantage of a free and/or discounted ticket for a day of fun with your family this Veterans Day weekend.
