About Palisades Tahoe

Palisades Tahoe was started when the former University of Nevada star skier, Wayne Poulsen purchased the first 2,000 acres of Squaw Valley Ski Resort which opened in 1949. The resort was modeled after European ski destinations.

In 2010 it was purchased by a private equity group, KSL Capital Partners, and merged with Alpine Meadows. Alterra Mountain Company was then formed. Ticket holders have joint access to 43 lifts. In 2021, the name was changed from Squaw Valley to Palisades Tahoe.
