Military Pro Deals For Military and Veterans: Up to 60% Off Big Brands

A professional program or “pro deal” offers an exclusive discount depending on your line of work. Whether or not you decide to apply as a group or individual, once approved you will receive the same discount that the professional athletes receive.

There are hundreds of outdoor companies like Osprey Packs, The North Face, and Black Diamond, that offer professional programs.  Some are offered to military members and veterans, while some are not.

What is a Pro Deal?

A “pro deal” is a marketing strategy that companies use to build brand recognition. These programs go by many names and draw on the expert status of professionals who purchase, use, and sometimes review clothing, gear, and products. Professional members of the programs purchase big brands like Under Armour, Garmin, and Yeti sometimes at 60% discounts.

You’ve probably seen these brands at one of the 12,000 EXCHANGE facilities across the globe. The EXCHANGE is the Department of Defense’s largest retailer and the merchandise they stock is continually evaluated for quality, price, and consumer demand.

Consumer demand is one element keeping these brands on the shelves. Advertising is one element that influences consumer demand. Pro deals are one type of advertising. Pro deals, however, advertise and support brands far beyond the EXCHANGE.

Service members and veterans are full-time professionals and often eligible to apply for these programs. You receive products at huge discounts and companies receive widespread and unique advertising.

Who offers Pro Deals?

Many individual brands have a pro deal or brand ambassador programs. There are also companies like ExpertVoice, GovX, and Outdoor ProLink. These are networks that include professionals, experts, brand influencers, and long lists of individual brands, products, and services.

Service members and veterans can submit one application and be eligible for discounts from hundreds of partnership companies rather than submitting hundreds of applications to individual brands.

What should I know bout applying for membership?

Generally, applying for membership to these programs is free and requires verification of active duty status or military service. Once you are a member, you can browse and purchase products at huge discounts.

Important: Applications typically require you to submit proof that you are an industry professional. Be aware that photocopying a CAC card is a violation of federal law and punishable by fine and imprisonment. This law does not apply to government agencies.

What brands offer Pro Deals for military and veterans?

This incomplete list highlights some of the major brands that offer Pro Deals or are available through the Pro Deal networks listed above.

Companies with Military Pro Deals

Black Diamond

Starting with Black Diamond, you will need to provide a pay stub or LES (leave and earning statement) job description and a group application if this would apply to you. If your job requires ski or climbing gear, you must send a letter from your supervisor explaining which type of equipment would be needed. Other types of professional statuses include Outdoor Recreation, Certified Coaches, Ski Patrol (group only), and Mountain Guides. Each program requires a certain type of verification, and that can be found here. With this winter season’s El Nina, you would not want to miss paying $637.46 (with free shipping) for award-winning Helio Carbon BD skis, with an original price of $849.95.

Once you have gathered all of the appropriate materials, you can apply directly on their website. The application will be approved or denied within that week then the discounts will show on the website when you log in! The application can be withdrawn at any point due to abuse of the program or time restraints (one year per application) so it is best to read their guidelines and restrictions before applying.

The North Face

Even though The North Face already has a 10% Discount to all military members and their families with a military ID, they also have an additional Professional Membership for Active duty service members. The membership offers up to 50% off all clothing and up to 40% off gear depending on the type of membership. To apply, you must have access to an LES as well as a reason for applying to the program. Just like the Black Diamond program, no one is entitled to the program and it can be canceled due to any program abuse or change in qualifying standards. Paying $99 for a new this season men’s Thermoball eco jacket that is originally $199 gives you the right kind of wiggle room for prices on outerwear.

Even if you are not approved for The North Face Professional Program, you are still able to use their 10% discount every time you checkout, whether in-store, at their outlets, or online. You just need to be able to present a Military ID or Dependent identification.

Discounts like paying $114 for an Osprey Stratos 50L Pack instead of $190 is just the start of the different types of deals you can find!
