When planning a family vacation, finding a discount on a hotel can save you a little bit of money.  Serving in the military or being married to someone who does means you probably qualify for a military discount at certain hotels. Here is a list of hotels with military discounts that you might be staying at on your next vacation.

Best Western

They offer a 10% discount for military travelers, which is at or below the per diem rate.

What is their military discount? Best Western Hotels & Resorts throughout North America give 10% off or more off the Flexible Rate.

Who is eligible for this military discount? Military personnel and civilian military personnel including veterans and American Legion members.

How do you get this discount? Present an official ID card or work orders when checking in to the hotel after booking the Flexible Rate.

Choice Hotels

Choice Hotels include Ascend, Cambria, Comfort, Sleep Inn, Quality Inn, Clarion, Clarion Pointe, Mainstays Suites, Woodspring Suites, Suburban Extended Stay Hotel, Econo Lodge, and Rodeway Inn.  Choice Hotels offers guaranteed discounts at the one- and two-person rates at more than 2,700 participating properties.

What is their military discount? Choice Hotels offers a discounted rate on official and leisure travel at participating properties.

They also offer lifetime gold status to members of the military and their families, which includes a 10% point bonus on all stays, choice of an elite welcome gift or up to 250 bonus points at participating US hotels, exclusive elite member offers, and in-hotel benefits.

Who is eligible for this military discount? Active duty and retired military personnel, and their dependents, as well as members of several government/military associations can get the government rate for official and leisure travel.

How do you get this discount? You might need to show your proof of eligibility at the front desk after booking the government rate.

Marriott Hotels

Marriott includes the Sheraton, Delta Hotels, LeMeridien, Westin, Design Hotels, Gaylord Hotels, Courtyard by Marriott, Fairfield by Marriott, and more. They also offer long-term housing for TDYs and PCSs at the Residence Inn, TownePlace Suites, and Marriott Executive Apartments.  Marriott offers a reduced government rate for military members, subject to availability.

What is their military discount? They offer a government & military rate, subject to availability. In some locations, you can use the government rate for both leisure and official travel.  In other locations, it is only available for official travel.  Please keep in mind, you will need to show travel orders.

Who is eligible for this military discount? Military personnel. Retired military and dependents are not eligible.

How do you get this discount? You will need to show your military ID as well as possible travel orders if traveling officially after booking the government rate.

Hilton Hotels

Hilton includes the Doubletree, Embassy Suites, the Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton, and more.  Hilton offers a military family rate of 10% off regularly priced rooms for active military, veterans, retirees, and their families. This discount also extends to Homewood Suites for active military members.

What is the Hilton Hotels military discount? Hilton offers a 10% military family rate on leisure stays. They also offer a discount to state, federal, and US military employees at Homewood Suites which would be perfect during a PCS.

Who is eligible for this military discount? For active duty military, retired military, reserves, veterans, and their families.

How do you get this discount? You will need to show a valid military ID at check-in after booking the military family rate.

Wyndham Hotels

Wyndham includes Wingate, Ramada, Baymont, Days Inn, Super 8, Howard Johnson, Travelodge, Hawthorn Suites, La Quinta, and more.  Wyndham offers military members and their families a 20% discount off their regular room rates.

What is their Wyndham Hotels military discount? Wyndham hotels offer 20% off to military and their families.

Who is eligible for this military discount? Military members, veterans, and their families.

How do you get this discount? You need to verify your military affiliation with Troop ID and then book your room.

Military members on official or vacation travel qualify for a cheaper government rate at these luxury hotels.

What is their military discount? Hyatt offers a government rate at Hyatt Hotels and Resorts in the United States.  

Who is eligible for this military discount? Military personnel.

How do you get this discount? You would need to select “government” from special rates. A military ID is required at check-in.

IHG Hotels include Candlewood Suites, Crowne Plaza, Even Hotels, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Staybridge Suites, and more. You can also find IHG hotels at 39 military locations.  They offer military members a discounted government rate at over 3,000 hotels.

What is their military discount? There is a government rate at over 3,000 of their hotels. Many of the locations also offer special amenities for government travelers.  These include a free breakfast, free phone calls, and more.

Who is eligible for this military discount? Military personnel.

How do you get this discount? You should choose the rate when you are booking your room. You will need to present your military ID or work orders when checking in.

Red Roof Inn

Offers a 10% discount to military members on official or leisure travel.

What is their military discount? Red Roof Inn will give you 10% off for either official military or leisure travel. They also offer 10% off to friends and family who are visiting a service member.  This applies when the service member has recently returned from overseas or is graduating.

Who is eligible for this military discount? Government, military, veterans, and retirees.

How do you get this discount? You would need to use a special code when booking your room.

What is their military discount? Motel 6 and Studio 6 offers 10% off at 1,400+ locations.

Who is eligible for this military discount? All active and retired military personnel.
