About Care.com
Sheila Lirio Marcelo helped start the college savings website, Upromise, and was the Vice President and general manager of TheLadders.com. She came up with the idea for Care.com when she had trouble finding someone to help care for her first child. She also had trouble finding care for her dad after he had a heart attack.
She launched Care.com in 2007, and expanded into the UK in April of 2012, followed by Canada. They partnered with Knowledge Universe in 2013, a company that runs childcare centers.
Care.com has over 32 million members across 20 countries. New jobs are posted every 30 seconds across 20 countries.
Their headquarters are in Waltham, Massachusetts. They offer a 25% off military discount.
