The Best 4th of July Deals for Military and Veterans

The 4th of July is to celebrate America’s birthday and a lot of families have at least a few days off to make memories together and have some summer fun. Here is a list of companies with special 4th of July sales and discounts for military and veterans.

NOTE: With the current situation with COVID-19, many of the amusement parks below are either not open or are not offering any military specials for the 4th of July as they normally would. Hopefully, this will not be the case in 2021 and they will offer them again next year.

Amusement Parks

California’s Great America

Not open for the 4th of July in 2020.

At California’s Great America in Santa Clara, California, they will be having an Independence Day event, as well as offering free complimentary tickets to members of the military. These free tickets will be available from July 4th-7th, and the military member can buy an additional six tickets for $24 each. You must show your military ID.

Carowinds

Not open for the 4th of July in 2020.

Carowinds in Charlotte, North Carolina, is having military days from June 29th through July 7th. They waive the admission fee for active duty, retired military, national guard, veterans with an honorable or medical discharge, and ROTC. You can also buy up to six immediate family members tickets for $39.99 each when you purchase them online. You need to have a valid military ID.

Cedar Point

In 2020, Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio, will be having a Light Up the Sky night on July 4th. There will be a spectacular firework display accompanied by a patriotic soundtrack. The cost will be $20 per car. They don’t seem to have a specific 4th of July offer for members of the military although they do have discounted tickets on their site.

Dorney Park

Not open for the 4th of July in 2020.

Dorney Park in Allentown, Pennsylvania has Military Days from July 1st through July 7th, 2019. They offer free tickets to active duty, retired, national guard, veterans with an honorable or medical discharge, and ROTC. You can also buy up to six additional tickets for family at $29.99. You need to show your military ID.

Idlewild and Soak Zone

Not open for the 4th of July in 2020, they will open July 7th.

Idlewild and Soak Zone in Ligonier, Pennsylvania has a regular military discount of $27.99 when purchased online, and $34.99 at the gate. Regular price is $46.99 to compare. From July 1st through July 5th, active duty, retired, and military veterans will receive free admission to the park. Family members can get discounted tickets. They also offer a special military season pass.

Kings Dominion

Not open for the 4th of July in 2020.

Kings Dominion in Doswell, Virginia, offers a Star Spangled Celebration from June 30th through July 4th, 2019. There will be performances from local military bands as well as a dazzling firework show plus you will be able to go on your favorite rides. They offer free admission to the park for active duty, retired military, as well as veterans with an honorable or medical discharge. They also offer discount tickets for family and friends. You will need to show your military ID or DD214 at the front gate.

Kings Island

On the 4th of July, season pass holders can enjoy a 4th of July fireworks show. They don’t seem to have military days in 2020.

Kings Island in Kings Island, Ohio has a 4th of July Spectacular on July 4th, 2019. They will be open until midnight and have the Grand Carnivale, an all-new international festival and parade. They offer free admission on their military appreciation days from July 3rd-5th.

Valleyfair

Not open for the 4th of July in 2020.

Valleyfair, in Shakopee, Minnesota, has their Military Days from July 4th through July 7th. They offer free military tickets for active duty, retired, national guard, veterans with an honorable or medical discharge, and ROTC. You can also buy tickets for up to six immediate family members for $37. You can show your military ID at the gate and purchase the discounted tickets at the ticket windows.

Worlds of Fun

Not open for the 4th of July in 2020.

Worlds of Fun in Kansas City, Missouri has Military Days on July 4th. They offer free admission for active duty, reserves, and retired military members. You would need to show your military ID at ticket sales. You can also purchase up to six discounted tickets for your immediate family.

They also have a normal military discount of $49 at the gate, or between $39.99-$42.99 depending on the time of year, if you order them online.

Other 4th of July Sales and Military Discounts

Walgreen’s

From July 3rd-5th, Walgreens is offering special offers to service members, veterans, and military families. In-store only, with a Balance Rewards Card. You can find 30% off of eligible regular priced items from their brands and 20% off all other eligible regular priced items. Visit the Walgreens website to learn more.

Academy Sports

There doesn’t seem to be a similar discount for 2020.

At Academy Sports, a sporting goods store, you can find a 10% off military discount from June 23rd, through July 6th. The discount is good both online and in person. You would need to be verified on ID.me or present your military ID when checking out. The discount is good for active duty, reserves, national guard, veterans and immediate family members.

Rack Room Shoes

At Rack Room Shoes they do offer a 10% off military discount every Tuesday. In addition to that, they offer a 20% off military discount on the 4th of July, as well as Memorial Day and Veterans Day. The discount is for military members, the reserves, and their families. You just need to show your military ID when checking out.

Caesars Entertainment

There doesn’t seem to be a similar discount for 2020.

At Caesars Entertainment, veterans and active duty can receive up to 50% off of rooms when booking on Caesars.com during the 4th of July weekend, which would be July 2nd through July 8th. The discount is good on stay dates through the end of 2019.

They also offer a Caesars Rewards Salute Card which is for any active-duty military, national guard, reserves, veterans, and their spouses. The card upgrades you to Platinum Caesars rewards status.

With this card you will receive comp parking at many destinations, special pricing at restaurants, a 5% discount on Hawaiian airlines, a comp stay at Atlantis, Paradise Island in the Bahamas, and their status match with the Wyndham Rewards Hotel Program.

In addition to these 4th of July military discounts, there are plenty of other military discounts going on year-round, from Disneyland, to discount for kids, to airlines. Always check for a military discount when you are on vacation, or just out and about in town, as doing so will help you save a little bit of money while having fun with your spouse and family.

Honda

Honda, and Acura, are offering a special deal for the military, first responders, and healthcare professionals for the 4th of July. The discount will be for $1,000 off and you will need to finance or lease through Honda or Acura financial services to qualify. The discount is for active duty, retirees, veterans, and their spouses within two years of separation. Gold star families also qualify and it is good until July 6th.

4th of July Discounts For Everyone

In addition to military and veteran discounts, here are more 4th of July deals.   While not just for the military, they’re still deals you don’t want to miss!

Bite Squad

There doesn’t seem to be a similar offer for 2020. However, the code is still on the website.

Bite Squad, a restaurant delivery app, will be offering 50% off their delivery fees from July 4th through the 6th in honor of the 50 states. Use promo 5050 to get the discount.

DoorDash

There doesn’t seem to be a similar discount for 2020.

DoorDash, a restaurant delivery app, will be offering free delivery on orders $15 or more on July 4th. Use the code FREEDOMRINGS. They will also be giving $5 off of orders $12 and more with the code FIREWORKS.

Boston Market

Boston Market, with their casual rotisserie chicken, is offering a Family Meal Special. You would get 1 whole chicken, ½ rack of ribs, 3 sides, 4 cornbreads, and 1 whole apple pie. This would be $29.99.

Bass Pro Shops

At Bass Pro Shops sporting goods store, you can find their Star Spangled Summer Sale of up to 50% off, from June 25th-July 8th.

Carter’s

Carter’s, selling children’s clothing, will be having a 4th of July sale of 25% off their entire site and store.

Crocs

Crocs footwear is having an Independence day sale where you can receive 25% off sitewide, although exclusions do apply.

JCPenney

JCPenny’s has many different sales going on right now. They also offer an extra 30% off of $75 or more on select original, regular and sale-priced apparel, shoes, accessories, fine jewelry, and home, expiring July 5th. You can also save an extra 25% off under $75.

Michael’s

There doesn’t seem to be a similar discount for 2020

At Michael’s, a craft and decor store, you can find a 4 day mega sale this holiday week. This will be in store and online through Saturday, July 6th, 2019.

Old Navy, the Gap, and Banana Republic

At Old Navy, the Gap, and Banana Republic clothing stores you can find up to 60% off of everything. Look for their famous patriotic clothing at Old Navy to find patriotic clothing to wear for the 4th of July.

Target

There doesn’t seem to be a similar discount for 2020

At Target, you can find some 4th of July discounts. They have an up to 30% discount off patio and home items, 20% off of women and kids swim, and 20% off of sandals, Schwinn bikes, and select grills.

Einstein Bros. Bagels

There doesn’t seem to be a similar discount for 2020

At this bagel store, you can pre-order red, white, and blue bagels. Available Tuesday through Thursday at participating locations.

Krispy Kreme Donuts

At this donut shop, you can find red, white, and blue themed donuts, called the Freedom Ring, Firework Ring, and Sprinkled Ring through Thursday.

Bruegger’s Bagels

There doesn’t seem to be a similar discount for 2020

At Bruegger’s, a bagel shop, you can pre-order red, white, and blue bagels. You will need to pre-order by July 2nd, but they will be available the 3rd and the 4th. While supplies last.

Mrs. Field’s Cookies

At this cookie shop, you can find many different patriotic treats such as red, white, and blue cookies. You can get the Big Bang Box for $39.99.
